Children's Sunday School meets at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings in the lower level of the church.
The church nursery is available for parents of children (infants through the age of 3) during the 8:00 AM worship service, the 9:00 AM Sunday School/Adult Bible Study and the 10:30 AM worship service. The nursery room is located in the north side of the narthex in the rear of the church. The program is coordinated by a core of volunteers.
Children who are 2-3 years of age meet in their own classroom each week during the Sunday School hour. We follow a curriculum from Group Publishing called “Buzz,” which uniquely encourages young children to grow in their faith. Using a multi-sensory, developmental approach, children learn about God and who God is. Tools are given to families to share their faith at home together.
KidzQuest is Rotational Sunday School for PreK through Grade 5, where classrooms are redesigned into creative, learning-style based workshops through which classes of kids rotate. Classes rotate to new workshops each week for a 4-week “rotation” period, during which only one Bible story is taught. This approach allows children to learn in their own learning style, as well as repeating stories and concepts so that material that is taught is retained. The workshops for KidzQuest include: Creation Station (arts & crafts), Holywood Theatre (video & drama), Good News Café (Bible discovery & food), and Bibleland.com (computers).
All children ages 3 through 5th grade are invited to participate in one of the children’s choirs. The Cherub Choir is for preschoolers through 2nd graders, and the Children’s Choir is for Grades 3-5. The choirs practice during the Sunday School hour on Sunday mornings and sing in church several times during the school year. The choirs also perform in Children’s Musicals, as well as participate in the Children’s Christmas Program.
Children’s Church is designed for children ages 3 to 7 years of age and takes places during the 10:30 AM worship service. After the children’s sermon, children are invited to follow an adult leader to the undercroft area of the lower level of the church. The lesson each Sunday is based on the Scripture Lessons and includes children’s songs, Bible games, activities and crafts.
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is for children ages 3 through those going into 6th grade. This fun-filled week weaves music, Bible Stories, drama, small group discussions and prayer, snacks, and recreation into an awesome experience of learning about God's love in Jesus! Adults and students, beginning with those going into 7th grade, are encouraged to volunteer as small group or station leaders. Each year, VBS is from 9 AM to Noon on Monday through Friday during the first full week of June.
